HENSOLDT LP19D alternative — 1535 nm OEM rangefinder modules
The LP19D is HENSOLDT's open-frame 1535 nm eye-safe rangefinder: a self-contained unit with transmitter, receiver and control electronics, meant to sit inside a larger observation system. It is a mature, well-documented reference point — and it is also a single-source part with defence-grade lead times. This page puts its published figures next to the ERDI modules that do the same job.
HENSOLDT LP19D — as published
| Laser wavelength | 1535 nm, diode-pumped Er-Glass |
|---|---|
| Published range | up to 15 km (page gives no target or visibility condition) |
| Accuracy | within 3 m |
| Interface | RS232 or RS422 |
| Form | open frame, self-contained unit (transmitter, receiver, power and control electronics) |
| Export note | manufacturer states "Not subjected to any EU or USA export controls" |
What that page does not publish
- No mass, dimensions, supply voltage or temperature range on the public page.
- No test condition for the 15 km figure — target size, reflectance and visibility are not stated.
- No update rate, no beam divergence, no multi-target behaviour published.
- No interface protocol document on the public page.
This matters more than it looks: a range figure without target size, reflectance and visibility is not comparable to anything, including our own numbers. It is the single most common reason a design-in fails late.

Verdict
If your requirement is 1535 nm, roughly 15 km class, RS-422, and you need a second source with published test conditions, the LRF1525C is the closest like-for-like: 15 km published, ±2 m, 0.3 mrad, 400 g, RS-422. If 12 km is enough, LRF1221C saves 125 g.
