Laser rangefinder modules for handheld and sport-optics OEM

Inside a monocular body there is no room for a compromise: 5–30 g, 905 nm, a display-friendly output, and an accuracy number that survives being printed on a box.

What the category actually needs

Sub-30 g, single-digit-gram electronics, 3.3 V, and a frame format a small MCU can parse. The published catalogue in this band runs 9 m to 1.5 km at 90 % reflectance, with ±0.2 to ±1 m accuracy and 3–200 Hz update rates. The 10 % reflectance column is the one your customer will complain about, so read both.

Optics, not electronics, drive the cost

In a handheld the module is rarely the cost driver — the eyepiece, the beam combiner and the display are. If your BOM is tight, take the module with the smallest aperture that still makes range on your target and spend the money on the optical train.

Class 1 at the eyepiece

A 905 nm module is the right choice here, but the classification that matters is the assembled product. If the transmit path runs close to the viewing axis, get the assessment done before tooling.

Shortlist is a starting point, not a recommendation — the right module depends on target, visibility and pointing error. Filter the full matrix.
