Laser rangefinders for border and perimeter surveillance

Long dwell, long range, fixed installation: this is where the 15–23 km modules earn their mass.

Why 1535 nm dominates here

A fixed observation post can afford 275–410 g and a 12–24 V rail. What it cannot afford is a range that collapses in haze, which is exactly what 905 nm does. The published figures for this family are 10–23 km against vehicle-sized and diffuse targets in 15–30 km visibility; the condition is printed on every model page because in a 5 km visibility morning you will not get the headline number.

Design notes

RS-422 over a long cable, a window heater for condensation, and a pan-tilt whose pointing error you have actually measured. The 0.3 mrad divergence parts are for long-range work; a 1.3 mrad part puts a wider spot on target, which is more forgiving of pointing error and less good at discriminating a small target next to clutter.

Blind range matters

A 50 m minimum range is acceptable when the nearest thing you care about is a kilometre away. If the same post also watches the fence line, you need a second short-range sensor.

Shortlist is a starting point, not a recommendation — the right module depends on target, visibility and pointing error. Filter the full matrix.
