Newcon LRM 2K alternative — the module inside the monocular
The LRM 2K is a finished handheld: 7x24 monocular, 905 nm, Class 1, 10–2,000 m, 235 g, IP67. It is not a module, so it is not a like-for-like comparison — but it is the reference many buyers cite when they ask what a 2 km rangefinder should cost and weigh. This page separates the instrument from the sensor inside it.
Newcon Optik LRM 2K — as published
| Laser wavelength | 905 nm |
|---|---|
| Laser class | Class 1, eye-safe |
| Measuring range | 10 – 2,000 m (2,200 m to highly reflective targets) |
| Accuracy | ±1 m below 500 m, ±2 m from 500 m |
| Interface / output | internal display (TOLED); no external data interface published |
| Mass / size | 235 g without battery; 106 x 76 x 39 mm; IP67; −20 to +50 °C |
What that page does not publish
- No external serial interface is documented — it is an instrument, not an OEM module.
- No beam divergence, no receiver aperture, no update rate published.
- The 2,200 m figure is stated for highly reflective targets, with no reflectance value.
This matters more than it looks: a range figure without target size, reflectance and visibility is not comparable to anything, including our own numbers. It is the single most common reason a design-in fails late.

| SPD1200N2 | 905 nm | 1.5 km | ±0.3 m | 15 Hz | 5 g | UART-TTL |

Verdict
If you are building a product rather than buying an instrument, the sensor equivalent is a 905 nm module in the 2 km class: LR2000E2 (±1 m, UART-TTL, 10 g) or the SPD1200 family at 1.2–1.5 km. You add optics, display and housing — and you stop paying for a monocular you did not need.
